Liberty Mutual Insurance has been helping people embrace today and confidently pursue tomorrow since our founding in 1912, a time of great progress in the United States.

It was an era of dynamism as well as growth, with more people coming from around the world than ever before.

Millions of them passed through the halls of Ellis Island, an iconic step in a bold journey. So many came for opportunity, for the chance to build a better future for themselves and their families.

Protecting opportunity is and always has been central to who we are. Our belief that progress happens when people feel secure has guided us as we’ve grown from a single-room office of 15 people to a company of tens of thousands across the globe, insuring everything from bicycles to satellites.

The same opportunity and security that countless immigrants have sought are the ideals we value. That’s why the symbol of freedom and opportunity—Lady Liberty—is one we have proudly used for over a century.
