CONTE VERDE was built by Wm. Beardmore and Co., Glasgow for the Lloyd Sabaudo Line and ran the North and South American service routes between 1922-1932. She was transferred to the Far East service in 1932, scuttled at Shanghai in 1943, refloated by the Japanese and became a troopship. Sunk by US aircraft, refloated and scrapped. Sister to the CONTE ROSSO.
