Statue
of Liberty Picture Contest - Winning Artwork
Saturday, October 28, 2006, marked the 120th anniversary of the official
dedication for the Statue of Liberty, the
world-famous symbol of American freedom and opportunity located off the tip of
Manhattan Island. To celebrate this historic milestone, The Statue of
Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation sponsored the first-ever children's picture
contest for elementary school-aged children. Entries were received from more
than 1,200 children representing 39 states and from around the world.
The thumbnail images below represent the twelve finalists, as well as the three
which were selected as winning entries within their respective age categories:
ages 5-7, ages 8-9, and ages 10-12. Click on any image below to view a larger

Our sincere thanks to all the children, parents, and school teachers
worldwide who participated in this special celebration marking the 120th
anniversary of the dedication of Lady Liberty.
