Statue of Liberty Picture Gallery
From the very moment Frederic Auguste Bartholdi's statue of "Liberty Enlightening the World" was being erected on Bedloe's Island in New York harbor in 1885, people have been captivated by her image. The island, which has been her home for more than 120 years, was officially renamed Liberty Island in 1956. Today this imposing work of art continues to capture the imagination of all who see her, whether in person or as the subject of countless photographs or artistic renderings.
The Statue of Liberty is quite possibly the most photographed statue or monument anywhere in the world.
As an ageless symbol of American freedom, she has stood silent watch through the Golden Age of American Immigration and welcomed tens-of-millions of passengers en route to a new life in America.
The images above are a small sampling of the many Statue of Liberty pictures and drawings to capture her majestic pose. You can click on any of the photographs above to view a larger Statue of Liberty picture.
